Abstract
The article discusses the law and the structure of power in colonial Virginia, focusing on the legal order in the region in relation to immigration, indentured servants, and Virginia's agricultural industry. Bacon's Rebellion, African slaves, and repression are also addressed. The legal rights of laborers and Virginia's elite are mentioned, along with Virginia's General Court and a boat theft-related case involving Virginian John Gibson in 1668. Fines and legal settlements are also examined.
