Abstract

The article discusses the torture memoranda presented by the Bush administration. The torture memoranda has been charged of ignoring numerous United States treaty obligations, which forbid torture and inhuman treatment in different contexts. These treaty obligations include the 1949 Geneva Conventions, Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
