Abstract
Robert Seibel and Linda Morton recently charted the demographics of externship programs. They lauded "the incredible diversity of programs which currently exist," but warned that the American Bar Association's (ABA) "micromanagement" regulatory approach which focuses on "content review" rather than addressing "institutional support" will serve as a decrement rather than an enhancement of externship programs. This is a companion essay which focuses not on who we are, but rather on whom the ABA wants us to be and the methods employed during site inspections to insure uniformity. The empirical base was developed through an August 8, 1995 survey sent to the 60 ABA law schools which had been inspected after revised Interpretation 2 of Standard 306 went into effect in July 1993.
